Have you seen their cameo bit (besides their rendition of Viola Lee Blues) in PETULIA?
Waving goodbye to the ambulance...?

The cameo appearance in Petulia.... I saw that movie (George C Scott) in a college movie class back in 81 or 82. If I remember correctly, it is one of those 60's artsy films, confusing and pretty boring. The scene you talk about has the ambulance pulling away and the Dead jumping on the back and looking in as it pulls away. There is also a scene where George C Scott is talking to someone in a parking lot and they meet underneath a large poster (from the Fillmore I Think) of Jerry in a leather jacket sans beard that was posted on the side of a building, it must have been 12 ft high. I also remember that Janis and Big Brother playewd a song in the club scene as well, with those old light shows featuring colored water and oil. I barely remember the plot or particulars of the movie, but those scenes and the Viola Lee are indelibly imprinted in my mind. I do remember that Scott was wearing a white leisure suit.
